Lines
In order to increase flexibility and reliability in managing the Bolzano – Merano line, a number of junction stations were built in 2006/2007. This project was funded jointly by the provincial government and Italian railway network operator RFI. Also, at Ponte Adige, Vilpiano, Gragazzone and Lana - Postal stations platform height was raised in order to guarantee safe access to the South Tyrol FLIRT trains. Access to platforms was also improved by installing a series of ramps, while in-station passenger comfort was boosted by installing new shelters. Protection barriers were also installed to make track crossing safer.
History
The Bolzano-Merano railway was built at the end of the 1800s as part of a transcontinental railway project.
